A woman identified as Abena Jayson, aged 30, with 9 children has allegedly been shot dead by the husband for denying him food. This occurred at Lele, a suburb of Prang in the Bono East region.

The husband, a 45 years old farmer, allegedly committed this heinous crime on Saturday 21st August 2021 after a little broil ensued between the two. The wife (now deceased) was said to have requested some money to attend a funeral, which the husband refused her, this, therefore, resulted in the woman’s decision to refuse the husband meal when it was prepared

Pru East Police Commander, DSP Eric Awiadem, narrating the incident to Citi News said, “ the man and the wife have been having some misunderstandings for quite some time now. There was a funeral yesterday, Saturday, which the deceased wanted to attend. She asked the husband for money, but he refused. She later prepared a meal for the household and refused to serve the husband’s portion. This infuriated the husband who started another quarrel. Later in the day, the woman was cooking when the man shot her.”

After reporting himself, the police led him to the crime scene and found the lifeless body of Abena lying in a prone position in a pool of blood, while the single barrel gun that was used to kill her was also beside the dead body.

The suspect, Muntom( the husband) has, however, told the police that he committed the act under the influence of the devil.
