Over the past few days, Social media has been occupied with pictures of the bus terminal project undertaken by the SRC of the University for Development Studies (UDS Tamale campus). The cost involved in the said project has got many people talking.
In a recently released budget, it was contained that some GHS 63,175.47 was used to put up a bus terminal by the SRC/NUGS. This has attracted heavy criticism from the public with many describing the leadership as corrupt and self-centered due to disparities in the project and the cost associated with it.

The SRC/ NUGS, however, in a letter described the information as malicious lies and half-truth and has thus indicated forthright that they never benefitted from any money, but rather, all funds pertaining to the said project were handled by the University’s Works and Physical Development Unit (WPD).
“ The architectural designs, the procurement process as well as the execution of the projects were spearheaded by the management of the University, through the Works and Physical Development (WPD) Unit of the school. Cash for the project was not handled by the SRC/NUGS at any point.”
“For the avoidance of doubts, at no point was the SRC /NUGS leadership a beneficiary of any money,” they added.

They have therefore admonished the media to be professional in their reportage by verifying stories before putting them out.
