The Nadowli District in the Upper West Region of Ghana has been cut off from the Wa Municipal and a nearby town called Babile following a recent flood that has washed away bridges and parts of the road linking the two districts.
One such bridge is along Wa – Serekpere which links Kaleo, Sambo, Dafiama and other towns. The other bridge links Nadowli to Babile to Lawra and Nandom after Yiziiri.
According to reports received, hundreds of people are left stranded as a result of the heavy downpour and accompanying flood.
An eyewitness who disclosed this to our news writer, Dachaga Batiey Roger said the heavy rainfall had made it impossible for vehicles to travel to and fro the two districts.
The condition of roads in the Upper West Region has also deteriorated with recently built ones showing cracks.
The road from Dafiama, through to Sombo at Doug has also submerged with floodwater washing away parts of the road.
The major bridge linking Nadowli, Babili, Lawra and Nandom has also been washed away, forcing drivers to park their vehicles at both ends of the road.
