There Is Nothing Worth Celebrating On Akufo-Addo’s Constitution Day – Henry Osei Akoto Writes

A few years ago, Akufo-Addo instituted the so-called Constitution Day to serve as a facade to cover his brazen and wanton disregard for the for the 1992 constitution of Ghana.

Known for his love for catching headlines and being in the news, supported by his several media appartchicks who will rather promote his lies and agenda instead of asking questions, the president put forward this needless day as a holiday to make him be appear as a patriot when he is actually not.

If the president of the republic continues to refuse to show regard for our constitution, then there is no need to dedicate a full day to celebrating something that is non-existent.

A clear example of the president’s blatant disregard for the constitution is the mandatory vaccination directive which was issued before Christmas preventing Ghanaian citizens from entering their own country or be forced to take a vaccine which up to date has failed to slow down the pandemic as we were told.

I have resolved to fight this directive in court regardless of any obstacle we might face in the process. A lawsuit have been filed in that regard on the 21st of December 2021 which will be heard at the general Division of the Accra High Court on January 17 2022.

On the day of the election of the speaker, Hon. Alban Bagbin, President Akufo-Addo who touts himself as a respecter and protector of the constitution sent heavily armed soldiers to invade parliament and cause havoc which would have been a successful overthrow of our long-held democracy if not for our 137 gallant NDC MPs in parliament led by the able Hon. Haruna Idrissu.

Under this same Akufo-Addo, the courts of this country directed the release of a prisoner but he was refused his constitutional rights because the power drunk Akufo-Addo wanted him behind bars for his pleasure as against the decision of our courts.

Under this same so-called democratic leader who also claims he is a human rights lawyer (with no certificate to show for it), NPP hoodlums were directed to attack our courts and free their colleague criminals who were standing trial for various crimes. Till today, this NPP terrorists are still walking scot-free.

So what are we dedicating a day to celebrate a constitution which the President himself have actively participated in disregarding?
