The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa is building a 15,000 tonnes per year Cassava processing factory for his constituency.
The factory when finished will provide thousands of direct and indirect jobs for his constituents who are mainly fishermen and farmers.
Cassava is one of the main crops produced in large quantities in North Tongu and it’s neighboring Central and South Tongu constituencies all in the Volta Region.
According to the 3-term MP for the constituency, the starch processing factory will provide ready market for the cassava farmers and also alleviate youth unemployment.
Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa disclosed that the factory is in no way connected to government’s flagship 1 district 1 factory initiative.
“The North Tongu Cassava Starch Factory is a collaboration between my office, the TIAST Group of China and a consortium of banks. The project is not an extension of or under Government’s 1D1F,” he said.
