In 1920, Chas Ayres’ Cape Town nursery and Charles Starke’s grain and produce business merged to establish Starke Ayres. It’s a company that’s been in the vegetable, flower, and grass seed business for over 130 years.

Starke Ayres Bursary 2022

Bursaries are available from Starke Ayres for students interested in Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Production, Soil Science, or Plant Science.

The bursary seeks to equip tertiary achievers with opportunities for professional development and progress by providing financial support for their study.

The bursary covers the costs of registration, tuition, books, and living expenses up to a maximum of R 37 500 each year. The bursary is renewable each year based on the academic performance of the bursary recipient.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizens who are students or intending to study full time at a South African university in the fields of BSc- Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Production, Soil Science and Plant Science.
  • Completed first year or current second-year students at a Tertiary Education Institution
  • Proven financial need
  • Self-motivation
