Sputnik V Vaccine Saga: Sheikh Ahmed Refunds Over $2m For Non-Supplied Doses – Health Minister Confirms

Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum has returned the government $2,470,000 for the supply of 300,000 doses of Sputnik Covid-19 vaccinations, according to the Ministry of Health.

This was stated in a press release obtained by Trayonlinegh on August 14 and signed by Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu of the Finance Ministry.

According to the Minister, despite the circumstances surrounding the matter is well known, he can confidently and happily confirm that, pursuant to the Ministry’s mandate to protect the National purse, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum has indeed refunded the aforementioned sum back to the National Treasury.

The money is now available to the Ministry of Health for the purpose of purchasing much-needed vaccines to meet the President’s target of 20 million vaccinations by the end of this year” parts of the communique read.

He went ahead to assure the public that the Ministry of Health is working assiduously to access vaccines to enable vaccinations to be administered to the public.

Meanwhile, a trans of the general public is calling on the government to relieve the Health Minister of his duties, after reports from the ad-hoc committee revealed that Mr Agyeman-Manu violated the constitution’s prior Parliamentary approval provisions as well as the Public Procurement Act in his quest to procure vaccines to aid in the fight against Covid-19.

The calls have been pushed by the Minority in Parliament, which is led by Haruna Iddrisu, a Tamale South MP.
