Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John, was a stalwart of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who died in July 2020 from COVID complications.
Being an African politician, one would assumed that the former General Secretary of the NPP was rich.
But, the extent of his riches has only become known close to 2 years after his demise, thanks to his will.

Sir John will Ghana
Sir John’s will which is effective and was the last of all his wills was made on the 21st of May 2020, barely a month before his death.
An aide, Charles Owusu and Nana Boakye Akyeampong were appointed as executors of Sir John’s Will. The appointments were made in the will.
Sir john properties:Houses in the Will
According to Sir John’s will, he owned many houses across the country mainly in the Greater Accra Region.

According to Sir John’s will, he owned a house at Ogbojo, East Legon and this should be given to his son, Yaw Amoateng Afriyie.
Another house located at Oyarifa is to be given to his daughter Ivy Akua Afriyie.
The same daughter got another house at Oyarifa.
A fourth house located at Adjringanor in Accra is to be given to his nephew Michael Owusu.
Another 6-bedroom house located at Ogbojo has been bequeathed to his nephews, Kwabena Amoateng, Yaw Boadu and Michael Owusu forever according to Sir John’s will.
Sir John gave to his son, Yaw Amoateng Afriyie a 4-bedroom house with an outhouse located at Ogbojo in Accra.
Sir John’s daughter, Awurama Gyamfuah received a 3-bedroom house located at East Legon.
The other half of the same house which is also a 3-bedroom was given to Akosua Afriyie forever.
The 3 nephews mentioned previously, again received a 4-bedroom house located in Sir John’s hometown, Sakora Wonoo.
Sir John’s will also bequeathed a 5 bedroom house located at Sokoban in the Ashanti Region to be shared between her 4 sisters with the master bedroom and the half of the living room given to his nephew, Michael Owusu.
Sir John’s will bequeathed a 4-storey building at East Legon containing ten 3-bedroom apartments and five 2-bedroom apartments to be shared between his children, nephews and others.

Sir John’s Will also bequeathed a house located at East Legon Hills to Akosuah Darkowaah forever.
The last of the houses belonging to Sir John was willed to his future wife should he had married before his demise.
Since he couldn’t marry before his demise, this house also goes to his nephew, Michael Owusu.
Sir John‘s Hospital
According to Sir John’s will, his hospital, which will be known as the Afriyie Memorial Hospital after his death and located in his hometown are to be give to his nephews Kwabena Amoateng and Michael Owusu forever.
Sir john properties: Plots of Land owned
Sir John’s will revealed that the politician wasn’t only a real estate person as his numerous houses suggest, he was also a landowner.
The numerous lands owned by Sir John were shared as follows:
Michael Owusu got 2 plots of land located at Ahenama Kokoben in the Ashanti Region.
Eva Akua Afriyie and Ivy Akua Afriyie also got 2 plots of land located at Oyarifa in the Greater Accra Region.
5 and a half acres of land situated at the Achimota Forest were distributed between her daughters and nephew with one acre going to each of the 4 and the rest going to Michael Owusu.
Another piece of land also located at the Achimota Forest measuring almost 1 acre was shared between Sir John’s nephews Michael Owusu, Yaw Boadu and Kwabena Amoateng.
Sir John’s will stated that his portion of a piece of land jointly owned with his aide Charles Owusu should be given to Ruth Korkor Odonkor.
Another Achimota Forest land jointly owned is to be given to Elizabeth Asare Boateng.
A 5-acre Ramsar area land at Sakumono in the Greater Accra region is to be shared equally between his sisters Abena Saah, Comfort Amoateng, Abena Konadu and Juliet Akua Arkoh and their children.
Sir John’s will speaks of 5 plots of land located at the Millenium City Estates in Kasoa which is to be shared equally to Michael Owusu, Eva Akua Afriyie, Ivy Akua Afriyie, Yaw Amoateng Afriyie and Kwabena Amoateng.
Another plot of land located at East Legon is to be given to Yaw Amoateng Afriyie forever.
Almost half an acre of land located at Ogbojo, Accra is to be shared equally between Michael Owusu and Yaw Amoateng Afriyie.
Michael Owusu will also receive a plot of land located at East Legon Hills according to Sir John’s will.
He is also the proud recipient of a piece of land located at Adenta Aviation.

A fuel station owned and operated by Sir John at Kentinkrono in the Ashanti Region will go to his nephew Kwabena Amoateng
A teak plantation in Nkawie in the Ashanti Region is to be given to Michael Owusu.
A rubber plantation located in the Eastern Region is to be given to Michel Owusu.
Michael Owusu also received a farm located at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

A Lexus LX570 V8, a Ford Fusion and Lexus V6 were bequeathed to Yaw Amoateng Afriyie.
Michael Owusu received a Nissan Titan Pick-up V8 and a Mercedes Benz E63 sport AMG.
Eva Akua Afriyie received a Honda Pilot V6 and a Honda Accord Sport.
Ivy Akua Afriyie received a Toyota Land Cruiser V8.
Ruth Korkor Odonkor is to receive a Ford F150 and a Honda Accord 2.0 Touring.
Yaw Boadu received a Toyota RAV 4 2019 model and Akosuah Darkowah received a Chevrolet Cruze.
The last car, a Lexus Saloon Car 2019 model was to be given to any future wife should he had married. Since he couldn’t marry before dying, nephew Kwabena Amoateng gets the car according to Sir John’s will.

According to Sir John’s will, the late politician owned 5 pump action guns. One of those is to be given to his son Yaw Amoateng Afriyie and the other 4 given to Michael Owusu Afriyie forever.
Sir John’s Clothings
According to Sir John’s will, all his clothing should be shared equally among hus children and nephews.
Sir John’s Bank Accounts
According to Sir John’s will, he has bank accounts with five local banks and one two foreign banks, one with Wells fargo in the US and one with the Royal Bank, Canada.
Upon his demise, Sir John’s will says the money in GT Bank account bearing the name Ruth Korkor Odonkor should be given to her.
All other monies in the all the bank accounts excluding the Wells Fargo account should be shared equally among his children in the exeption of Ruth Korkor Odonkor.
All monies in the Wells Fargo bank account are to be given to Elizabeth Asare Boateng.
Investments owned by Sir John
According to Sir John, he has an investment of Gh¢ 2 Million with the Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).
He also invested Gh¢ 250,000 with the NTHC which was rolled over and stood at Gh¢ 303,720 as of July 2019 and is still running.
These two investments are to be retrieved and shared equally among Eva Akua Afriyie, Ivy Akua Afriyie and Yaw Amoateng Afriyie .
Sir John’s will also indicated that 2 joint gold production investement which he owned should be quantified into cash and share between Eva Akua Afriyie, Ivy Akua Afriyie, Ewurama Gyamfuah, Yaw Amoateng Afriyie, Ruth Odonkor, and Michael Owusu.
Three stall owned at Kejetia Market are to be given to sisters of the deceased forever.
One Agnes Boakye who is also known as Akosuah Darkoah was taken care of during Sir John’s lifetime and is not entitled to any further inheritance according to Sir John’s will. She received a house at East Legon Hills, one at Kumasi, a store at Kejetia and two vehicles.
Loans Owed Sir John during his lifetime
According to Sir John’s will, he is a owed a Gh¢ 500,000 loan by one Konassah. This loan is to be retrieved and shared equally amongst Eva Akua Afriyie and Ivy Akua Afriyie.
According to Sir John’s will, any other business which he possessed but wasn’t mentioned in the will should go to his nephews Michael Owusu and Yaw Boadu.
