The member of parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Hon. Sam Nartey George has called on government to be transparent in it’s acquisition of Airtel Togo.
The government of Ghana has announced that it has fully acquired AirtelTigo from it’s parent companies Bharti Airtel Ghana Holdings and MIC Africa B.V.
The transcation was successful after the companies agreed to transfer their shares to the government of Ghana.
The transaction which cost $25 Million according to Sam George has been shrouded in secrecy according to a statement from his office.
The outspoken member who doubles as Ranking Member on paparliame’s Select Committee on Communications indicated in the statement that he has informed leadership that he intends to call for an emergency meeting between the Ministry of Communications and the committee to shed more light on the transaction.
