It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization maintained entirely by volunteers. Around 2000 people in Southern Africa are members of the SAAFoST.

The goal of this organization is to improve and expand the body of knowledge in the field of food science and technology through scientific research, publications, workshops, and seminars, among other things.

SAAFoST has created a foundation to oversee and administer the bursaries.

They will get a maximum of R 35,000 per year in tuition fees. The payments are made in two installments directly to the tertiary institution.

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants interested in this undergraduate bursary must meet the foundation’s eligibility requirements.

Because the foundation gets a large number of applications for the bursary, those that do not meet all of the requirements are rejected.

The requirements are:

  1. Must be a South African citizen
  2. Must be a resident of the country for a minimum of three years
  3. Must have completed Matriculation
  4. Must be studying full-time at a recognized tertiary institution
  5. Must be either pursuing a Bachelors degree or Diploma in food science and technology
  6. Must be entering their second, third, or fourth year in the year 2022
  7. Must have taken SAAFoST membership for 12 months before applying

However, meeting all of the following requirements does not guarantee you a bursary.

Those with a strong academic record or who show promise in the field are given priority. The selection committee’s decision is considered final.

How to Apply?

Candidates who are eligible for the undergraduate bursary should proceed with the application process.

The procedure is straightforward and quick, but it necessitates meticulous attention to detail.
