Personnel from the Ghana police service have reportedly taken over the Royal Parade Grounds in KNUST.
This is supposedly in response to a rumored demonstration against hostel prices that was planned for today.
Fliers have been going round on social media indicating a peaceful protest which is supposed to start from the Royal Parade Grounds today.
The peaceful walk which was scheduled to begin 9 am is yet to start as security personnel have taken over the converging point in their numbers.
It is not clear under whose authority the policemen are operating or whether they were invited by the university management.
Agitations over hostel prices have been rising over the past few days which have led to some top personalities including Nana Aba Anamoah and John Dumelo adding their voice to the concerns of student concerning the hike in prices.
The University relations officer has assured students that management is working towards ensuring that hostels stick to moderate increment.
