The newly elected executives of the National Institute of Distance Learners Students Representative Council – National IDL SRC has on the 22nd of October 2021 paid a courtesy call to the Director and Management of the Institute of Distance Learners to discuss the way forward following the formal establishment of the association.
The delegation which was led by the National IDL president, H.E Emmanuel Osei Boateng together with other National Executives; Miss Ninette Owusu, National General Secretary, Miss Huda Muhammed, National Women’s Commissioner and Mr. Daniel Mfum Kwakye, National Financial Secretary tabled proposals and policy plans earmarked by their administration to be roll out in the coming days.
Notable among them was a Ten-year policy plan to enable every incoming National IDL administration follow suit the plan and establishments to derail the habit of haphazardly implementing policies that wouldn’t be in the best interests of students.
An Alumini body of IDL was also proposed amidst the general alumini body of the university.
Another pertinent proposal that was also presented to the management of the IDL college was the appointment of a patron for the National IDL, who will in turn guide the association in the development of the already proposed policy plan.
The Association also appealed to management, for a national secretariat to enable them have a proper arrangement and storage of their files and other record books.
Lastly on their list was a proposal to the IDL management to allow all IDL students who are able to pay at least 50% of their fees prior to the end of the 1st semester exams be allowed to sit for the exams.
Responding to the proposals presented by the association, Director of IDL, Prof. Kwame Osei Boateng acknowledged how proactively the leadership of the IDL sought engagement from management to run the affairs of their office.
Nonetheless, Prof. Osei Boateng assured the leadership of the association that, the discussions and appeals made by them would be forwarded to and discussed with the appropriate stakeholders to enable them implement the laudable ones. He as well charge the leadership of the IDL SRC to leave good legacies behind to enable subsequent administrations follow suit.
In attendance was also the Deputy Director of IDL, Prof. Ahmed Agyepong and the Registrar, Mr. Owusu Ansah Debrah.
