Renowned media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah has taken a swipe at management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology for the surge in hostel prices in the university.
Students of the university have been complaining about expensive hostel prices over the years to no avail. The biggest attention the lamentations get is to make up late night news on some major media houses.
A survey conducted by one aspirant in this year’s SRC election revealed that some hostels around the university have increased hostel prices by 89% among other outrageous increments.
Private hostel owners have cited the increments being made by hostels owned by some senior staff, popularly known as the GUSS hostels, as a backdrop for their increment.
The situation has renewed the yearly outcry about hostel prices that is always heard when the academic year is coming an end.
Adding her voice to that of the students, the General Manager of GH One TV, Nana Aba Anamoah has called out the management of the university for the hike in hostel prices.
The journalist inquired if the school is comfortable with the prices hostels around campus are charging students to pay for a place to sleep for eight months.
Nana Aba accused the university of being insensitive considering the economic substation in the country.
