West Africa’s Best University, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology – Kumasi has become the first public university in Ghana to get a verified Twitter account.
The account with over 40,000 followers, following only 91, was verified this week, setting it apart from ordinary Twitter users.
Recently, the University for the second successive time was ranked the best University in Ghana. This is according to the US News and World Report rankings for 2021. KNUST was also ranked as the 12th best University in Africa whereas, the University of Ghana placed 24th out of a total of 40 universities.
The University becomes the second University to get its official Twitter account verified in Ghana, following Ashesi University. The news has brought a lot of excitement to students and other members of the university community since the verification reveals the authoritative brand of the institution.
This adds up to the unique brand created by members of the university community of being the most interactive tweeps on the ” bird app”.
For clarity sake, accounts with verified tags are always A-listers with huge influence beyond their native country. Verification means you have been recognized in your career or niche and as such people should be able to distinguish your posts from parody accounts.
