Government Bans Travelers From Malta, South Korea, And Israel From Entering Ghana

The government of Ghana through its Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has placed a temporary travel restriction on persons traveling from Malta, South Korea, and Israel.

The directive which is dated December 17, 2021, comes in the wake of surge in Covid cases across these countries especially the Omicron variant, and the directive is expected to take effect from today December 20, 2021.

While vaccine certificates of travelers from Malta shall not be regarded, travelers from South Korea and Israel are banned for a 14 days period. In the case of Israel, the Government has directed that the ban shall last for 14 days period except in exceptional humanitarian cases or during official travel.

“…the Ministry further wishes to state that Government of Ghana does not recognize any vaccine certificate from Malta,” a portion of the letter reads.
