Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo has opined that the government of Ghana and the Ghanaian people should be worried that China has started exporting cooch beans.
News came in a few days ago that the People’s Republic of China has began cocoa production and has exported 500Kg of the Cocoa beans to Belgium.
The cocoa, produced in Xinglong, South China and exported to Belgium was worth $3,600 according to reports.
The news has sent COCOBOD and the government of Ghana shivering as there are concerns China, with it’s potential can overtake Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire as the largest producer of cocoa in the world.
Adding his voice to the debate is the former NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. John Dumelo. The politician who doubles as a farmer has expressed worry over the development.
In a tweet, John Dumelo asserted that the powerful Asian country can pass Ghana in a couple of years to become the largest producer of Cocoa.
