The E.V. Adams Scholarship Programme

The E.V. Adams Scholarship Program is named after Eustace Adams, one of the firm’s co-founders. The scholarship is given to students who have outstanding talents, are deserving based on academic merit, and are financially needy.

What is offered?

The selected applicants will receive a maximum of R 50,000, which must be spent solely for their studies.

Students applying for the E.V. Adams Grant Program should keep in mind that Adams and Adams is offering the scholarship in exchange for work. As a result, the applicant must be certain of his or her desire to work as a candidate attorney at Adams and Adams.

The scholarship is renewable for one year, which means it may be renewed each year. Every renewal year, the candidate must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 75 percent to keep the scholarship. If the student does not satisfy this requirement, the scholarship will be revoked.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the E.V. Adams Scholarship programme, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. The applicant must be enrolled at a South African University at the time of application – they can either be a first-year student or a student in the middle of their tertiary education at a university.
  2. Students who have exceptional skills and boast an outstanding academic performance
  3. South African Citizens who are pursuing either one of these degrees – BA Law, BCom Law or an LLB degree
  4. Students who are struggling financially

Candidates who are first-year students must submit their Grade 11 and 12 results. They must get a B or better in English and a C or better in Mathematics. Students must also be able to demonstrate that they require financial assistance.

How to Apply

Applicants must fill out the online application form and include a “letter of motivation” to their submission. The motivation letter must explain why the student is qualified for the E.V. Adams Scholarship programme.

Documents Required

When submitting an application for the E.V. Adams Scholarship Programme, students must have the following documentation available:

  1. A comprehensive Curriculum vitae (CV)
  2. An ID proof document
  3. The applicants’ Matric Certificate, which is equivalent to a students’ high school diploma.
  4. The most recent university transcripts that are printed on the particular universities letterhead.
  5. First-year students who are applying must provide a university acceptance letter to be eligible for the scholarship.
  6. First-year students must also present their proof of registration in one of the eligible universities.
  7. Proof on needing financial aid

To be eligible for the bursary program, all needed documentation must be provided together with a completed application form.

Closing Date

The deadline to apply for the E.V. Adams Scholarship Programme is February 28, 2022. Your application will be rejected if you do not submit all of the needed documents before the deadline.

Conditions of Award

The applicants may be requested to work during their vacations and may be expected to act as brand ambassadors for Adams and Adams on occasion. A right of first refusal (ROFR), a contractual agreement between Adams and Adams and the students receiving the prize, would also be required. If the scholarship recipient refuses the offer, the scholarship can be transferred to other qualified students, according to this agreement.
