Popular Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has asked politicians not to use his image or works to campaign.
The musician performed during the final campaign rally of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ahead of the 2020 elections, he publicly threw his weight behind the incumbent New Patriotic Party NPP
But the award-winning artiste has spoken against political parties campaigning with his brand and name
In a Twitter post on Tuesday, August 25, Shatta Wale stated that “moving forward…no one should use my picture or my brand on any political campaign or platforms”.
The artiste has therefore thrown support to whoever the nation chooses.
“Myself and my loyal fans will support and cooperate with any person who Ghanaians elect as their president”
He further stated that his offices were open to any individual who wants further clarifications on the issue.
Celebrities and musicians have publicly thrown their weight behind many political actors in Ghana in recent years.
